Sweet, Sustainable, and Plant-Based in the Heart of Ann Arbor
Cinnaholic Ann Arbor isn’t your typical bakery. Specializing in 100% vegan cinnamon rolls, this locally owned shop is on a mission to prove that indulgent treats and sustainability can go hand in hand.
“We really believe in being a sustainable business from the start,” says the owner. “We work really hard to reduce the amount of plastics we use, the amount of disposable containers, and we’re also a plant-based business, so that’s a huge impact on the environment.”
A California Inspiration, a Midwest Home
The idea to bring Cinnaholic to Ann Arbor started with a craving. After living in Northern California, home of the original Cinnaholic bakery, the owner moved to Michigan and noticed a gap in the market for plant-based sweets.
“Being vegan myself, I loved vegan sweets,” they share. “Ann Arbor had a similar feel to Berkeley, California, and I thought it would be a good spot for a Cinnaholic.” The city’s progressive, eco-conscious culture made it the perfect fit.
Going Greener with the Green Business Challenge
Cinnaholic Ann Arbor joined the Ann Arbor Green Business Challenge to take their sustainability efforts even further. The program, led by the city’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations, helps local businesses identify practical ways to reduce environmental impact.
“It gave us a lot of new ideas, ways we could be even better about reducing our impact,” they say.
For Cinnaholic, that means constantly evolving, from minimizing single-use plastics to reinforcing the environmental benefits of a plant-based menu. Every choice, from ingredient sourcing to packaging, is made with care.
